Hi all.

I’ve literally been inundated with a message on my Facebook asking where I have been.  And so I thought it only right  to get you all up to speed.

I have been sailing on a cruise ship.

Yes, I know – avid readers of the blog will be scratching their heads, wondering whether they have fallen into some kind of weird time-torn-dimension, where everything of the past is now of the present..but, alas, you have not.  I gave up ships three years ago, but when the opportunity came up for me to go aboard for a cruise, train up a team, and instigate some new and exciting ideas, I leaped at the chance.

And how could I not?  We were going to some very pretty places after all…

My job involved shooting a new documentary-style video for the passengers, whilst showing the guys onboard how we go about filming like this with a crap load of new gear and ideas.  I hope that I will be able to share some of these vids with you in the future, but as ever in the world of the freelancer, there are many legal issues pertaining to rights and blah de blah – let’s wait and see 🙂

The great news is, however, that I was on tour every day seeing all of the sites and filming with a D7000.  This meant I could use my D800 to take some stills along the way, which I would like to share with you all now.

Our first port of call was Flam, which is in Norway.   Set in a breathtaking Fjord, and with views of lakes and mountains to die for, it really is a magic place.  We started at the foot of the valley, and took the famous ‘Flam Railway’ up the steep climb to the skiing resort of Vos.  Skiing by winter, simply breathtaking place by summer.  It was fantastic.

Halfway up the railway, we stopped at a wonderful waterfall (sorry, cannot remember the name of it!) and took the amazing site in.  I am always a little humbled when seeing such awesome sights of nature, and this was with no exception – it was immense!

When we got to the top, we ate and chilled out in Vos before heading home.  As was the nature of the entire cruise, the weather was amazing; perfect conditions for video training 😉

So that was our first day! I have a few more ports to share with you, so keep watching this space, and I will be in touch soon!

Thanks for reading guys.
