I’ve been home for 18 months now, and it has been both an amazing and terrifying experience. Taking the plunge to full time self employed was pretty hairy, but I am grateful that things have been busy – even in my first year, and I am already beginning to build up quite a client base.
So imagine my delight when Rosie – who was one of the first people to book me when I moved back home, got in touch and asked me to take some photos of her daughter Hannah on her 21st birthday. You may remember I took some pictures of her newest grandchild, Baby Ava waaay back in August last year. I think Ava was barely 21 days when we did that shoot…so this latest booking was obviously going to be a little different.
So, first things first. Hannah is gorgeous. She has beautiful striking eyes and a very natural (and happily very common) smile. We met up in the morning, and headed to a well known spot in Shirley – Miller’s Pond. I haven’t been there since I was 15 and riding my bike over the frozen water – but it is a beautiful spot, with lots of greenery and ducks. The only slight drawback is that it does tend to be popular with the locals, and being quite a small area, you are slightly pushed for privacy at times.
Hannah’s boyfriend, Kyri, came along for the shoot too. One passer by kindly offered his congratulations, assuming we were doing an engagement shoot. He looked rather perplexed when I told him it was for Hannah’s 21st and wandered off…I am sure that day will come at some point, and very much hope to be the photographer then too. *Hint hint* 😉
Overall, I am really pleased with the shots we got. It was a very, very windy morning as you can no doubt tell from Hannah’s hair, but the light was nice, and both Hannah and Kyri were a delight to work with – a very personable, friendly and fun couple indeed.
A massive happy birthday Hannah, and huge thank you to Rosie for another booking! I hope you treasure the photos for years to come, and that 21 is an awesome year for you!
Thanks for reading guys.
